Why do you want to participate?
As a medical student I donโt get enough chances to discuss political topics as to my liking. I consider medicine to be between social and natural sciences, centering human life. I already have a good understanding of the natural scientific aspects of human wellbeing, but want to deepen my understanding of political, legal, historic and sociological factors that impact both negative and positive livelihoods. After having conducted my bachelor project in Ghana, I know I want to work in global health. Having family in a country that is impacted by a civil war (Cameroon), I see peace and freedom as a fundamental need for prosperity. Therefore I hope to gain more insights into this topic by participating!
What does freedom mean to you?
Autonomous functioning to fulfill oneโs self-determined wishes (with my background Iโm emphasizing bodily functioning (e.g. not being restricted by diseases or conditions or being able to overcome restrictions to participate in the life one wants).
What are the biggest challenges?
Money and being a relatively small generation with relatively little political power in comparison to more numerous older generations.
Do you have a message?
While people with a more natural scientific background can learn from social scientists that is also possible the other way around! ๐
