I’d love to see people educate themselves more on what freedom means to them and what it brings them. Maybe that way people will understand how important it is to bring the rising autocratic forces to a stop.

Why do you want to participate?
I want to participate, because I think freedom is every important and complex issue. I also think it’s great to talk about it with other people. I’d love to learn more about these people and share our experiences and thoughts.
What does freedom mean to you?
Freedom for me is the ability to participate in the public realm in however way I see fit. Being able to talk about the things I want to talk about and to do whatever is in the reach of my abilities.
What are the biggest challenges?
The biggest challenge today, I think, is the rise of political and societal movements that don’t believe in the freedom of others. Young people have an important responsibility to up uphold, consolidate and improve on the freedom that we have been given. It has become increasingly easier for autocratic and restrictive voices to spread, in particular under young people via social media for example. It’s up to us to resist to this.
Do you have a message?
While thinking about these questions regarding freedom, I realised how important liberal democracy is to safeguard freedom.
