Treaty of Middelburg

From an international relations perspective, we should strive for a more equitable world order. This means advocating for a United Nations that operates with greater democratic control and fairness, without vetoes that allow unjust practices to persist. Increased unity among countries is essential, so we can stand stronger together against bullies on the global stage. Lastly, a fairer economy is crucial to prevent unrest at home. It's challenging to implement conscription, as some countries propose, without ensuring that the youth can still live and thrive.

Why do you want to participate?

I am eager to delve deeper into the concept of freedom and explore ways to ensure our safety in the future. With the rapid changes in our world, it's crucial for our generation to adapt and evolve with the times. We need to embrace the challenges and opportunities that come our way and become the driving force behind innovative solutions. By understanding and valuing freedom, we can work towards creating a safer, more inclusive, and resilient society for everyone.

What does freedom mean to you?

Being free is fundamental to what it means to be human. It is about having the ability to be yourself and make your own choices, no matter how unconventional they may seem to others. However, true freedom should never come at the expense of others, whether they are living now or in the future.

What are the biggest challenges?

In my opinion, there are four main problems in the world today. Firstly, there is the issue of getting started in life. Affordable housing is scarce, and young people struggle to secure stable jobs. As a result, many find themselves stuck in situations where they lack the freedom to develop into the person they aspire to be. Secondly, we live in an ever-changing world that is becoming increasingly unsafe. The peace our parents once knew has diminished, and we are now entering a society that is becoming more controlling and less free due to the need for security. Thirdly, the most pressing issue is the lack of a real future. Decisions are being made for us by older generations, such as those regarding climate change. Young people will bear the consequences, while the older generations enjoy the present. This dynamic leaves us with a bleak outlook for our future. Lastly, there is a significant lack of unified identity. People tend to live in their own online bubbles, rarely interacting with one another. This polarization makes it difficult to remain neutral, and as a result, individuals feel pressured to conform to certain identities. This environment is especially dangerous for minorities, as they cannot freely be themselves.

Do you have a message?

A stronger European Union, governed by democratic principles, that can take on the role of leading the free and fair world, replacing the more autocratic United States.
